We love testing earbuds from less-known brands because that’s where you can find the best value. GJT is one of the more obscure earbud manufacturers we’ve come across, but their BTH-600 Bluetooth earbuds look like they could’ve been made by the likes of Sennheiser or Sony. Does the premium appearance hide equally premium sound? Let’s find out!

Design and Build

While a matter of personal taste, we find the bluish matte finish of the earbud housing extremely attractive and expensive-looking. We’ve seen similar finishes on earbuds costing ten times as much as the GJT BTH-600, and it’s nice to see it again in the budget category.

Unfortunately, the rest of the earbuds doesn’t quite live up to the standard set by the beautiful finish. The in-line volume control module is bulky, and the three buttons it houses (play/pause, volume up, volume down) can be hard to press. Also integrated into the in-line volume control module is a microphone for hands-free phone calls. The mic relies on the cVc noise cancelling technology to eliminate transmission interference and noise, providing a decent voice quality for both personal and business phone calls.

By far the biggest let down is the mediocre battery life. GJT advertise 4 hours of playback time and 1.5 hours to charge the earbuds from 0 to 100 percent. In reality, the playback time is nearly identical to the charging time. While 1.5 hours is fine when you just want to listen to music when doing the dishes or vacuuming, it’s insufficient for people who listen to music throughout the day.

Sound Quality

After we’ve found out how underwhelming the battery life of the GJT BTH-600 is, we expected to also be disappointed by their sound quality. To our surprise, we’ve discovered that the GJT BTH-600 sound pretty decent. The highs are detailed but not annoyingly sharp and piercing, the mids are clear and not muddy, the bass is powerful yet not overwhelming.

Especially enjoyable is the wide soundstage with fantastic spatial representation of sounds. It amplifies all other acoustic qualities of the earbuds, elevating their sound to a whole new level. The level of passive noise isolation is good enough to keep most outside noise at bay, but it doesn’t measure with active noise cancelling systems.
